halloween done right

- EDITION #16 -

Ah, the air is crisp, the leaves are falling, and all is good in the world when you have a warm drink in your hand (preferably a pumpkin spice latte!). Halloween is such a magical time of year. Spirits are high and it’s important to make sure your home is feeling just as festive as you are. Decorating for Halloween doesn’t have to be ghosts and goblins, it can be done in a very tasteful yet fun way too. We’ve gathered our favorite Halloween decor trends we’ve been seeing this year and to say we’re in love is an understatement. Can it be Halloween all year?

BOLD WITH SIMPLICITY

Stick to colors like tans, blacks, and whites, rather than, bright orange and bloody reds. I say create an overall vibe that is festive and sophisticated, blending with your home’s everyday decor.

Create focal points with accents around your home, like dining room centerpieces, kitchen island decor, and/or coffee table books and centerpieces.

My favorite way to create that chic halloween vibe is using items like white pumpkins, stone vases, pampas grass, branches, and candles.

ON THE SCARY SIDE

If you’re dressing up for Halloween this year, don’t be afraid to add a few spooky decorations around the house as well. But decorating for Halloween doesn’t necessarily mean turning your home into a haunted house. Skip the outdated decorations that belong in the garage, and dress up your home with some tasteful pieces that you’ll want to keep up all year round.

Start adding in skulls, bats, crows, and spiders into your decor. I wouldn’t say go overboard, but sprinkling them in with the rest of your decor could really bring a spookier vibe to your adult halloween decorations.

STAY FAR FAR AWAY

I’ll stop you in your tracks if you think adding blood, witches, and skeletons around your home is still okay. If we are trying to make your space adult chic, stay away from things that really evoke our childish halloween fears. Streamers are a no go, and so is anything that you would use to decorate a children’s birthday party. Do I need to say more?

Now, if you are one who has children, then I take back anything I just said because you want to mix in a little fun for the kiddos - but all I say is don’t go overboard.
