- EDITION #1 -
Honestly, my mind is going a million miles a minute, and it is crazy to think that today here I am sitting at my desk, typing up my very first blog post. I never thought I would be able to make a business, a career, and a lifestyle out of a passion. By no means can you bring success with a snap of a finger, but I am here to tell you that it is possible with commitment and resilience.
I don't want to jump ahead of myself, but I am simply ready to unveil The Studio. So, let's step back and let me introduce myself and tell you my story...
Hey, I'm Rushi, the guy behind it all trying to figure out where to even begin. I guess we can start at the very beginning.
I have always been the creative extroverted-introvert in my family... let me explain what I mean. When I was young, like every child, I was, of course, excited about opening presents on Christmas morning. But, honestly, when my dad turned on that camcorder and my mom turned on the music, I wasn't thinking of presents... I was ready to get up and dance to the beat. I was always the kid who wanted everyone to feel welcome, the kid who you could hear a mile away. But, on the other hand, I was also the kid who was shy in front of strangers. All of which are still true today including the anxious personality that is always overwhelmed with the feeling of self-doubt and lack of courage.

NOUN
the most outgoing shy guy you’ll ever meet
In college, my days consisted of studying, dance team practices, fraternity events, and spending hours on end with friends. This is where I taught myself time-management and honestly just charisma to really make the most out of any experience. I will still remember that day Sophomore year, when a fraternity brother of mine - now best friend - messaged me about starting a company together. Although the mobile application didn't take off in success, that moment in time was the start of my entrepreneurial mindset.
Over the years, I have learned that there is no such thing as failure. I may go deeper in a future post, but in summary, I can say that my biggest failure in life - which not only took me back emotionally but also financially - resulted in who I am today, the guy who went from being a small fish in the sea, to now starting his own successful business while managing a social life and corporate job. Honestly, I owe it to the people around me, I am so grateful of my parents and baa (grandmother) who supported me spiritually and fiscally, my best friends who picked me up when I was down and all my other family & friends around me who saw past my lowest of lows.
After reading all that, you are probably thinking... what about interior design? I thought I was here to read about The Studio? How are you qualified to design my space?
Well, I don't think that your credentials define who you are, it is your expertise and dedication that truly showcase your qualifications. To think, I am a corporate accountant by trade and interior designer by choice.
From the beginning, my hobbies included watching HGTV, scrolling through feeds of interior design portfolios online, and practicing the art in my home. It was always a guilty-pleasure, until I thought to myself, why can't this be a business? Everyone tells me I need to take the plunge, so what is stopping me?
So guys, I grabbed a glass of wine one night, opened my laptop, and here we are today after a whirlwind of experiences, self-doubt, and many successful design stories... I am here to officially announce my bread and butter, The Studio.
I never wanted to be a niche designer because I love challenging myself and my clients alike. For me, taking on a new client is like creating a bond with your best friend. Some projects can take months and many just weeks, but I want to ensure I always design a space that reflects my clients' personality.
"There's no place like home." - Wizard of OZ
This is what I want my clients to be saying after I have completed my work, when they're stressed, anxious, or simply away from their home. I want to provide a place for my clients to unwind, relax, and step away from the hassles of life. I want to ensure that the space I design is a reflection of my client and that's why I take pride in the fact that when a client steps out of their home, they think to themselves - "There's no place like home."
If you want to see the journey of different projects I take on, learn about my top tips & tricks about curating the perfect design in your own home, hear about the inside scoop on running a business, or just read about my life as a designer juggling between work, business, and social affairs - then go ahead and subscribe and I will be the first to remind you when I post every Thursday!
Stay Creative,
P.S. (The Design Diaries will be my place where I unwind every week to talk to you guys about what is going on in my life plus anything you guys want to personally hear about... so please leave in the comments below if there is a special topic you want me to touch base on, as well as, feedback so I can curate my posts based on what you want to read!)
